Ways to destress

Hello lovely. It’s summertime and school is out! I’ve been feeling residual anxiety- am I supposed to be somewhere? Is there an assignment due? NOPE! We need to take time to recover and hopefully not allow ourself to build too much stress. Take a deep breath and enjoy time with friends, pets and ourselves.

Here is a list of stress-relieving activities you can try:

  1. Exercise: Engage in physical activities such as jogging, yoga, dancing, or cycling. Exercise releases endorphins, which can help improve your mood and reduce stress levels.
  2. Deep Breathing and Meditation: Practice deep breathing exercises or meditation to promote relaxation and calmness. Find a quiet space, focus on your breath, and let go of any tension or negative thoughts.
  3. Listen to Music: Play calming or uplifting music that resonates with you. Music has the power to soothe the mind, elevate your mood, and transport you to a more peaceful state.
  4. Engage in Creative Outlets: Find a creative outlet that brings you joy, such as painting, writing, playing a musical instrument, or crafting. Expressing yourself creatively can be therapeutic and help redirect your focus away from stress.
  5. Connect with Nature: Spend time in nature by going for a walk, hiking, or simply sitting in a park. Being in nature can have a calming effect, reduce anxiety, and provide a fresh perspective.
  6. Practice Mindfulness: Practice being present in the moment by focusing on your senses. Pay attention to the sights, sounds, and sensations around you. Mindfulness can help reduce stress and increase overall well-being.
  7. Engage in Hobbies: Dedicate time to activities you enjoy, such as reading, gardening, cooking, or playing a sport. Hobbies provide a sense of pleasure, accomplishment, and a break from daily stressors.
  8. Spend Time with Loved Ones: Connect with family and friends who make you feel supported and understood. Engage in meaningful conversations, laughter, or engaging activities together.
  9. Take Breaks and Rest: Allow yourself regular breaks during busy periods and ensure you get enough restful sleep. Taking breaks can help refresh your mind and prevent burnout.
  10. Practice Self-Care: Engage in activities that prioritize your well-being, such as taking a warm bath, practicing skincare routines, getting a massage, or indulging in a favorite hobby. Taking care of yourself is essential for managing stress.

Remember, everyone is unique, so find the activities that work best for you and incorporate them into your routine as a regular practice to manage and reduce stress effectively.
